Snot Child in the City

Who knew someone so damn cute could also be so damn contagious?

Despite our valiant attempts at Clorox-wiping the entire house, despite repeated hand-washing and hand-sanitizing that would fill even Jack Nicholson's OCD afflicted character in As Good As It Gets with awe, despite soaking ourselves in orange juice and tea with honey, a mucous-mustachioed M has taken B, my Fairy-Godmother-in-Law, and me down with her.

Achoo. Achoo. Achoooooooooooooooooo.

Sniff. Sniff.

Cough.

It ain't pretty: B's congestion is the stuff of legend. Last night, in between chain-saw massacre snores, while riding the waves of Alpha sleep, he spent a good chunk of the night muttering obscenities like "fuck" and "this is bullshit" under his breath. And in between my bone-weariness, itchy belly, leg cramps, and congestion, I've chartered new depths of whiny-ass paranoia.

Sniff. Sniff. Sniff.

And here's the thing: If this were all happening last month we'd be miserable, but I wouldn't be freaking out. You see, while it's T minus 2 weeks until we reach the date on the calendar with the big red circle around it, technically, Little Homie could come any time. Even now, as I write this post, my belly is tightening in the familiar vice-like grip of a braxton hicks contraction, signaling that labor may not be that far off. While part of me can't wait to get this baby out, the timing sucks. Since it's Snot City over here, if the contractions really get going, or my water breaks, I'll probably have to go through labor alone, because the staff at Cedars are even more germaphobic than I am.

So, anyone out there want to hold my legs back while I push? I promise, it'll make you think long and hard about losing the condoms or tossing out the birth control.

I thought not.

Those cute little babies have their own secret schedule. It'll be such an adventure.

Ah yes, we have the snot-tache going on here as well, with Monkey licking it before I get to it with a tissue.

I'll hold your legs....I don't have the baby making parts anymore so no birth control to toss.

haha.... I will pass on the holding the legs. And we got pregnant ON birth control by the way. LOL.

I'll hold your leg. As long as you don't get snot on me. Blood or amniotic fluid is fine, but please, no snot.

Hope everyone feels better very soon!

I'm in for leg holding, and it's really too late for me with the birth control. Besides, I'm a wee worried that it was Matthew who brought the plague to your house in the first place, so it's the least I can do.

I hope you all get well soon! Try not to cough or sneezy too much...baby might think it's time to go!

Well whomever you find to hold your legs for you...make sure they do their job! I on the other hand, for the birth of my first child, hand my husband at that time holding one of my legs up and a nurse holding the other (I had an epidural so I naturally couldn't feel my legs), well they both let go of my legs at the same damn time and my legs went sprawling off the bed on either side. It was a sight to see, it might have hurt had I any feeling in them. On that note..get well soon!

They are cute, but full of germs.

We never got sick until we become parents.

ooh, you are all wonderful :)

We're experiencing Snot-Fest 2009 over here, as well.

I hope the germies go away in time for Little Homie to make his grand entrance!

Stay positive..think of it like this. Maybe you'll sneeze or cough him out? It could be the easiest birth ever! And here I was worried about the coughing and peeing my pants...

Dude, what happened to my comment? Oh well. I'll do it again.
Okay, so, maybe you will sneeze or cough little homie out. It could be the easiest birth ever! And here I was worried about peeing my pants every time I cough...

I guess you wouldn't be surprised to hear that I held my own legs, would you? I'll do it for you but by the time I get there, it will be over. I hope you all feel better soon!
